Meet Our Secretariat 

Juliana Piña, Logistics Director/Vice President

Juliana will be joining MWHO as its Vice President and Logistics Director. She is majoring in Global and Community Health and minoring in Health Communication.  Juliana has a history of serving her community since high school. Her service has extended from the hospital and clinic into global missions. Even while staying busy volunteering, Juliana has taken up research by aiding in studies led by GCH professors. Juliana believes that public health is necessary and equally important for every single individual across the world. While having an adventurous spirit, she hopes to create an impact in communities across the world by serving in the Peace Corps following graduation. Following the Peace Corps, she plans to enter a MPH program.

Jonovan Peavie, Chief of Staff 

Jonovan is a current senior majoring in community health and minoring in environmental science. He is dedicated towards the goal of advancing knowledge on public health and is accomplishing this through his work as an environmental science research assistant.  Jonovan chose public health because of his love of science and public health’s ability to reach mass amounts of people. After graduating from Mason, he plans on attending an MPH program to focus on epidemiology. Jonovan plans on running a marathon in the fall! 

Peyton Beaumont, Theme Director

Peyton Beaumont will be joining as theme director this year after being on the theme team as a research writer for the EMRO committee. She is majoring in global and community health and is minoring in conservation. She’s joined MWHO again because she appreciates public health’s focus on the community and how it is applicable to everyone. Her passion for public health has driven her to set and meet goals for advancing the missions of global health. She plans on pursuing an MPH after graduating to become an epidemiologist. Outside of MWHO, Peyton enjoys reading and occasionally some archery.

Melissa Iraheta, High School Coordinator 

Melissa will be joining MWHO as its first High School Coordinator. Melissa is a first generation student majoring in community health and minoring in biology and computational data sciences. Inspired by her family and upbringing in a lower socioeconomic background, she understands the importance of healthcare and hopes to become a physician to target disparities in women’s health.  Following her graduation, Melissa will pursue an MPH or Master’s in Biomedical Science before entering medical school. Outside of MWHO, she enjoys playing video games and instruments. She is excited to lead MWHO’s new program for high school students starting this fall. 

Feven Kebede, Theme Team Researcher

Feven is a Community Health major and will be helping MWHO as a theme researcher for the upcoming year. She is inspired to work hard because she understands that what she learns can help people live a better life in the future. Promoting preventive healthcare is part of her mission to restore communities facing limited resources. Feven has been in the health field since high school when she took a medical assistant course and hopes to continue on to a graduate program after Mason. She was born in Ethiopia and speaks Amharic!

Clarissa Montes, Assistant Logistics Director 

Clarissa is joining MWHO once again after serving as a communications ambassador during her freshman year. Her major is in community health with a minor in health and social policy. She is looking forward to improving her understanding of global health policy. Propelling her passion for public health is the initiative of making long-lasting positive impacts on the health of all people. She’s inspired to continue towards an MPH program by her family’s sacrifices that have made it possible for her to be at Mason today. Clarissa spends time outside of MWHO on the Mason Athletics Women’s Rowing Team. 

​Zoehriya Anwar “Nuha”, Communications Director

Zoehriya is a current junior studying Community Health and minoring in psychology. She joins us after serving as a Communications Ambassador and the Theme Director for the infectious disease conference. Zoehriya comes to MWHO with a variety of experiences at Mason including Alpha Phi Omega, Fourth Estate, Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, and Mason 4 Survivors. Zoehriya hopes to fulfill the goal of connecting her passion of public health with public policy and social justice. She believes the US can improve its health system and is a field advocate for mental health policy. After graduating, Zoehriya plans on attending a combined JD/MPH program to become an attorney specializing in public health.
